Dear readers!

We offer to your attention the next issue of the electronic bulletin of the IISEPS’ Centre for documentation. In our opinion the main theme of the last month is Belarus-Russian relations. It appeared in the center of public attention. Putins’ quotation “cutlets are separately, flies are separately”, A. Lukashenko’s answer that Belarus will never become 90-th region of the Russian Federation, the latest statement of the Russian president on a press conference, where he spoke about two possible variants of integration (union to the one state with single authorities, or integration like the Europe Union), – all this means that former relations of two countries are changing. Whether the new approach of the Russian authorities will remain? Whether Belarus will be an independent state? Section “Theme of the month” and comments of Russian politologist D. Furman and Belarusian politician N. Cherginets are about these issues.
Other important event which attracted attention in June is the completion of integration of two youth organizations BUY and BPUY. A. Feduta commens the issue.
On a background of summer “political calm” the activity of one of ex-candidates in presidents M. Marinich was pronounced. A result of his activity is “Program of five steps”. Read about M. Marinich – in our section “Person of the month” and in V. Glod’s comment.
“Organization of the month” this time is represented by the second Belarusian TV channel – the Public National TV which started to broadcast in the last week of June. A. Zimovsky and L. Mindlin discuss the reasons of PNT creation, its first steps and prospects.
“Document of the month” in our opinion is the verdict of Grodno regional court on N. Markevich and P. Mozhejko – two journalists of recently closed independent newspaper “Pagonia”. Unexpectedly rigid (2.5 and 2 years of restriction of freedom – so-called “chemistry”) verdict of judge T. Klimova is analyzes by Markevich’ lawyer S. Tsurko who looks through the prism of Belarusian authorities and independent press relations.
We hope, offered materials and comments appear interesting and useful in your work. We are waiting for your responses, remarks and offers.
