ANOTHER DIFFICULT YEAR
The analytical material in which we summed up the year of 2008 was called "A difficult year". The data of opinion polls show that we had every reason for that. The December opinion poll of 2008 fell on the active phase of the economic crisis, hence the share of negative assessments increased 9.6 percentage points, and the share of positive ones decreased 9 points virtually symmetrically...

THE CRISIS SPELL
In March of 2009 81.8% of the Belarusians agreed that the economic crisis had begun in the country. Three months earlier in December of 2008 there were considerably fewer of such answers – 64.3%. Owing to such dynamics it became senseless to ask a question concerning the beginning of the economic crisis once again, that is why at the end of the year the question was worded as follows: "Do you think that Belarusian economy is in crisis?"...

POLICY ANOMALY
The positive dynamics of two out of three public attitudes indices continued in December. To a certain extent an objective circumstance – November rise in pensions – also contributed to the growth of the financial position index. The real amount of the assigned pension (the pension corrected in compliance with the index of consumer prices for the goods and services) increased 0.3% in November, 2009 in comparison with November, 2008, and as compared with October, 2009 it rose 9.1%...

OURS EVERYTHING
According to the journalist K. Skuratovich, growth of the GDP is the main property of the Belarusians. Sociologists do not argue about it; however they suppose that the electoral rating of the head of state does not rank last in the price-list of the national properties either. The crisis has introduced its own amendments...
